Apostille for Originals
Certain foreign authorities may require an apostille on your original document to verify that it is certified by the Danish government. You can obtain this apostille yourself, either digitally or physically, by contacting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, we are also happy to assist with this if you need the process expedited, as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs often has a longer processing time than we do. We can legalize your original within 24 hours of receiving it by mail.
Apostille for Translations
If you want your translation to be legalized as well, we offer two options:
Legalization of Certified Translations
We can have your certified translation legalized by taking it to Dansk Industri (Danish Chamber of Commerce) to verify the translator's signature, and then to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for an apostille. Since legalization is a chain process, Dansk Industri or a notary must confirm the translator’s certification before an apostille can be applied. We generally use a certified translator for this process, as it ensures that your translation will be accepted abroad.
Legalization of Standard Translations
Alternatively, we can perform a standard translation, which we will then have legalized by a notary and receive an apostille for. In this case, the project manager from Legalisering.dk personally visits the notary and signs to confirm that Legalisering.dk as a company stands behind the translation. This is often referred to as a certified translation, which is a service commonly offered by other agencies. However, we always recommend the first option because the translator's certification provides a stronger authority for your translation. If we do not have certified translators for your chosen language pair, we will offer you this second option.

What is an Apostille?
An apostille is a certificate that verifies the authenticity of the signature on your original document. The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that the document is genuine and can be used abroad. If you ask us to legalize your translation, we will obtain this apostille, which will be affixed to either the original document or the translation.
How Much Does It Cost to Get an Apostille on My Translation?
The cost depends on the size of your project. You can always request a quote for both services with and without legalization.
